About Sophia Rose ~ "The Practical Mystic"
My background covers 45 years of diverse experience in the social work, health care, recreational therapy and sales fields, with a degree in psychology and nursing and ongoing professional development. I hold certifications as a Life Coach, Clinical Hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner, Time Line Therapist, Reiki Master, and in Dr. Eric Pearl's Reconnective Healing, and have taken Level 1 and 2 courses in BodyTalk Healing and EFT Emotional Freedom Technique. I've also added a 635 nm laser to my repertoire to do laser light therapy for allergies and for clearing all kinds of issues and beliefs, or as an amplifier to tapping the EFT points, after studying Sandi Radomski's Allergy Antidote System and her Ask and Receive method for distance healing. I was licensed as a massage therapist in 1985 and practiced for 10 years, and studied numerous styles of body-centered psychotherapy, energy work and intuitive arts. After training with Global Ministries, I became an ordained lay minister with a New Thought, cross-cultural orientation. On the fun side, I'm certified in Zumba Dance Fitness and Zumba Gold, for adults and active seniors.
Prior to starting my therapy practice in 1991, I was a nurse, licensed massage therapist, social worker, statewide trainer and consultant for the Oregon Mental Health Division, serving the elderly, children, disenfranchised families and disabled populations. Out of San Diego, I promoted Anthony Robbins seminars to businesses and worked throughout California as a trainer and motivational speaker for a sales and personal development training company.
At the other end of the spectrum, I've also lived a colorful, unconventional life from my formative years being the radical 60's and 70's, leading me from Woodstock Festival to live in Oregon and the west coast for many years- to communes, eastern mysticism, outrageous creative expression, paranormal experiences, alternative lifestyles and new paradigms.
Explorations in the expressive arts include improvisational theater and movement, costume and mask designing, performance art, clowning, mime, singing, drumming and various styles of dance. Extensive travel in various cultures has given me a perspective on the world's rich, artistic traditions, where art is an integral part of life.
Some of the great teachers I've been influenced by are Ram Dass, Tony Robbins, Matthew Fox, Dr. Christiane Northrup, Jack Kornfield, Marianne Williamson, Joseph Cambpell, John Gray, Caroline Myss, Dr. Larry Dossey, Barbara Brennan, John Bradshaw, Donna Eden, Jean Houston, Joan Borysenko - and in recent years, Joe Dispenza, Bruce Lipton, Gregg Braden, Jim Kwik's brain mastery techniques, motivational genius Mel Robbins, neuroscientist Andrew Huberman and others. I am an ongoing learrner and regularly read and do webinars and YouTube videos for inspiration, plus the latest research and techniques in brain science, integrative medicine, nutrition, psychology, and quantum physics incorporated with the ancient and indigenous knowledge, wisdom and practices from around the planet.
My life journey has been tremendously instrumental in inspiring my mission and ability to assist others to evolve, and I have learned as much from life's lessons and my own recovery process, and my clients, as from my formal education.
I have personally dealt with and overcome childhood abuse and neglect, an emotionally ill mother who was treated with electroshock therapy and numerous residential psychiatric stays, a family lineage of alcoholism and incest, long-term depression and anxiety, severely low self-esteem, two suicide attempts and hospitalization, a UFO close encounter, high school drug addiction, rape, cancer, the abandonment of all my family and the ability to bear children of my own, the young death of loved ones whom I was profoundly connected to, a fire that destroyed all my personal and professional belongings, financial devastation, homelessness, years of chronic physical pain and myriad other health maladies (so I can relate to just about anyone who comes to me!). This was part of the impetus for me to become a "helping professional" and embark upon the spiritual path, which has enabled me to embrace all these experiences as a journey of learning and enlightenment, and ultimately- my initiation into the path of the Wounded Healer. I now firmly believe we must be grateful for the things we wish never happened! These are gifts for Soul mastery that I draw upon to help others find their way Home.
